Iranian musical traditions stretches back thousands of years and have evolved along political and societal changes in the Persian empires. Iranian music is currently largely focus in Iran, but also exist in neighboring regions of the Greater Persian area. These traditions include Persian Classical Music and related Iranian Folk Music genres, but also later developed into Iranian pop as Western influences and instruments became prevalent. Some instruments frequently used include: tār, dutar, tanbur, santoor, kamānche, ney and tonbak.
